The theater group Els Joglars will receive the prize at the 52nd San Javier International Festival of Theatre, Music and Dance, after the city council’s plenary unanimously approved the initiation of a dossier to award the prize to “one of the the national companies with the most ties to the San Javier Festival”. Els Joglars, who will return to San Javier in August to present their latest production, will receive the award to coincide with their 60th anniversary. Els Joglars is one of the oldest and most solid theater companies in Europe, without losing its critical spirit in the light of current politics, which, supplemented with irony and humor, characterize all its productions.

The festival’s director, David Martínez, recalled that Els Joglars, along with other companies, revolutionized the theater scene in Spain in the 1970s. In the early years, the San Javier Theater Festival hosted the first productions of the Catalan company such as “La Torna” and later such as “Laetius”, “Operación Ubú”, “Teledeum” or “Virtuosos de Fontainebleau”, already in the 80’s. productions such as «Señor Ruseñor», «Zenit.
