There are many good reasons to pay cash. Even if the European Union sees it differently: Cash must stay! However, why not enshrine it in the Constitution – as the Chancellor would like…
The fact that our beautiful country is already in the middle of the election campaign is evident from the fact that topics that are popular and that affect the desired target group are given preference. That is why Chancellor Karl Nehammer now wants cash to be enshrined in the constitution. A smart move – after all, so far only the FPÖ has acted as a money saver!
It’s not just conspiracy theorists who want to keep money
So the subject is certainly not new. Since the European Union has been considering restricting cash payments, many Austrians have become alarmed, as card payments also allow data from every purchase to be traced. You don’t have to be a conspiracy theorist to feel bad about this. Everyone has the right to anonymity!
Teach the elderly to pay with cards again?
But credit should also be paid to the fact that many elderly people prefer to pay cash because they are not comfortable with card payments. They were raised with the motto “Cash only is true”. Why would you want to force someone to relearn without need? Let’s give them the money too!
cash in good shape? Don’t need it!
Therefore, ideas like the digital euro can only be additional offers for cash. If you want, you can, and if you don’t, you don’t have to. Therefore, Chancellor Karl Nehammer’s idea of enshrining cash in the constitution has something to offer. What he clearly doesn’t know is that no constitutional amendment is needed! It would just be a decorative line that adds no value!
Let’s save the circus!
Because cash for Austria is already insured with our accession to the European Union in EU law. So to get rid of cash, we would have to leave the Union. So that we could save ourselves the whole circus about the planned money summit. It yields the same amount as the Food or Car Top. Perhaps it is not about concrete results, but only about the headline that fits the election campaign.
