Only the Lower Austrian eco-party is calling for more courage in planting plants on the green field. The local ÖVP is criticized, but this is counterproductive.
The local Greens are currently walking a fine line between more photovoltaics and more soil sealing in the country! While the VP — as reported — is making “only” 1,288 acres of land available for so-called agricultural PV in its zone plan for photovoltaic systems away from roofs, the Greens are calling for “bolder state laws.”
‘As if the climate crisis wasn’t enough as a warning’
“As if the climate crisis wasn’t enough warning, now comes the energy crisis with its exorbitant price hikes. But the state government is still acting as if a massive expansion of photovoltaics is not the answer to one of our most pressing problems,” said state spokeswoman Krismer (Greens).
However, the eco party does not yet have an answer about land use. And so the People’s Party is likely to stick to their “common sense plans” and only cautiously promote PV zoning on open spaces.
