The President of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, will not attend the ANC demonstration in front of the Diada because “he believes that it wouldn’t be consistent with the approach made by the organizers themselves”.
Sources from the Presidency of the Generalitat have argued that it is a demonstration”against political parties and institutionsand not against the Spanish state, which deepens the differences of independence”.
Aragonès has called on citizens to participate in the events of the Diada and has defended that independence will be achieved “only united, street, parties and institutions, despite the diversity of opinions and these differences”.
This was stated by Generalitat sources after the president of the ANC, Dolors Feliu, said in a statement the vanguardthat if Aragonès does not go to the Diada demonstration, it means that “he is not involved in independence”.
Aragonès attended the demonstration of the last Diada, where he was reprimanded by some of those present.
