The afternoon before the alcohol accident involving the Chancellor’s bodyguards must have turned out differently than previously thought. According to reports, people were already drinking in the apartment.
In fact, for all the spiciness, it’s not exactly a political bombshell: two of the chancellor’s bodyguards cause an accident, and they’re drunk. But what happened around the Cobra-Causa, from the replay of anonymous accusations by the SPÖ and FPÖ to the Chancellor’s emotional statement, the whole thing has long since become a bigger issue – especially since the version of how things happened that day, once has changed more.
The most recent, as the “Kurier” reports, among others, is now as follows: The two bodyguards are said to have been drinking in the Chancellor’s apartment with Karl Nehammer’s wife Katharina in Vienna-Hietzing – very different from what was previously pictured in the media.
Previously, there was always talk of the two drinking alone. However, according to the report, Ms Nehammer wanted to toast a bodyguard’s birthday while the head of government was in the chancery. The accident happened about 45 minutes after parting in the apartment. Mrs. Nehammer would have fired them both in advance – but officially this only stops when the company car is returned.
