the parliamentarian of PNVIrune Berasaluze, has called for the end of the prison exception for ETA prisoners, although she has announced that the jeltzale group will not be present at the demonstration organized by Sare for this Saturday.

Berasaluze went to the this morning round table organized in the Euskalduna Palace by the citizens’ network under the title ‘Towards coexistence’ in which victims of ETA, GAL and torture have intervened.

In statements to the media ahead of the meeting, Berasaluze assured that, like last year, the jeltzale formation will not attend the demonstration which will take place this afternoon in the capital of Biscay.

However, he has warned that this will not prevent him from demanding the repeal of “the penitentiary exception that applies to ETA prisoners”. It also appreciates the approaches to Basque prisons in recent months because they are “very positive about the rehabilitation of detainees”.

“Since the Basque government has the powers in penitentiary matters, you only have to see how many third degrees have been awarded in recent months, although after resources of the public prosecutor’s office there are relapses” added.
