Due to price fixing – Karmasin process: The dates are fixed

Date:

After the prosecution’s objection was rejected by the Higher Regional Court (OLG), the dates have now been set for the trial of ex-Minister of Family Affairs Sophie Karmasin (ÖVP) and a co-defendant. However, this is not yet about Karmasin’s role in the ÖVP survey affair, but about continued payments and anti-competitive agreements.

It starts on April 25 and continues on April 27 and May 9. Judge Patrick Aulebauer negotiated in the large courtroom in the “Landl”.

Falsely obtained follow-up payments?
Karmasin is represented by Philipp Wolm and Norbert Wess. The prosecution charged that Karmasin had illegally obtained continued pay after leaving politics by concealing from employees of the Federal Chancellery that she seamlessly continued her self-employment after leaving ministerial office.

She would have earned money from studies for the Ministry of Sports, which she was commissioned to do during the tender because of agreements with competitors – including her former employee Sabine Beinschab.

An employee of the Ministry of Sports is also accused of the second allegation. According to the Supreme Court, he raised the question in his appeal whether the alleged involvement in the crime is punishable at all and whether there are sufficient reasons to consider him a suspect. The court now deemed the evidence sufficient to consider a conviction probable.
