Already seven percent – ‘Communists could enter parliament’

Date:

The upward trend of the FPÖ continues: in first place for months, the PVV also comes in at 27 percent in the exclusive “Krone” Sunday question of the Institute for Demoscopy and Data Analysis (IFDD). “The FPÖ has long been at the center of society,” says pollster Christoph Haselmayer in a live conversation with Conny Winiwarter, which many do not want to believe. However, a party that has probably been underestimated until now is also on the rise: the communists are already at a very close distance from the NEOS at seven percent…

The KPÖ managed to achieve a “sensational result” in the state elections in Salzburg. Communist parties are already represented in the state parliament in two states. “Total madness. That clearly shows the protest,” Haselmayer is convinced that protest voters in particular would like to express their dissatisfaction in this way. With seven percent, the KPÖ is only just behind the NEOS, which currently stands at eight percent.

Communism: “The nice tip of the iceberg”
The problems of inflation and affordable housing played into the hands of the communists. “If inflation remains this high, the communists could enter parliament,” the poll predicts. However, Haselmayer describes Austrian knowledge about communism as “relatively obscure”: “Many only see the nice tip of the iceberg.”

Clear number one is and remains the FPÖ with 27 percent of the vote. “Herbert Kickl is doing very well and has secured a number of unique selling points,” the pollster sums up. If anything can stop the PVV, it is “the problems” until the National Council elections in about 15 months.

‘ÖVP still has a chance of first place’
The chancellor’s party currently has 24 percent: “The ÖVP has crossed the valley of tears and stabilized”. The ÖVP’s “sharper course” on e-fuels “could have helped”. The political insider even goes one step further: “The ÖVP still has a chance at first place.”

SPÖ sentenced to eternal opposition?
In the exclusive “Krone” Sunday question, the Greens “didn’t make a total crash” at nine percent. The SPÖ is in third place with 21 percent. “People don’t want arguments,” says Haselmayer. If the Social Democrats do not bring clarity to their own ranks in the course of the membership survey, then they are “doomed to perpetual opposition”, predicts Haselmayer. But: “They can’t resist either,” concludes the political insider.

You can see more spicy details like who Haselmayer means when he talks about “loud minorities”, how likely it is that blue and black are in the league and why and who the SPÖ continues to deliver itself to in the video above.
