Bermeo plenary officially approves Asier Larrauri’s resignation as mayor and councilor

Date:

As of today, the period of 10 working days will begin with the holding of a new session for the establishment of the Corporation to elect the person who will head the City Council, which will be Nadia Nemeh Shomal, second on EH Bildu’s lists, after the agreement between the sovereignist coalition and Guzan.

The plenary session of Bermeo has officially approved the resignation of Asier Larrauri, from EH Bildu, from the mayor’s office and as a councilor, after a traffic accident and a positive breathalyzer test. The new plenary session for the composition of the consistory and the election of the councilor must be held before July 7, the day on which the deadline set by law expires.

Currently, Xabier Ortuzar, from the independent platform Guzan, who supported the EH Bildu candidate to replace the PNV, the majority power, is acting mayor, and the Sovereignist formation has put forward Nadia Nemeh Shomal, who was second on their list, as a candidate for mayor. And she will be the one to take office, after the agreement between Guzan and EH Bildu.

The extraordinary plenary meeting was held this Friday at 8:30 am, after Asier Larrauri had written to resign from the position of mayor and councilor on June 20. In this manner, said resignation has been approved today so that within the period of 10 working days from June 23, a session for the formation of the Corporation should be held in which the election will be conducted to elect the person to be headed by the City Council.
