Catalonia is faced with a Diada determined by the negotiations for the Spanish investiture

Date:

While last year the Diada showed the discomfort of a sector of the independence movement about the ERC’s commitment to dialogue with the state, this time the doubts are also directed against JxCat, which is not closed to negotiations on the investiture of Pedro Sánchez.

This Monday, Catalonia faces a new one September 11 characterized by resentment within the independence movement and determined by the context of independence negotiations investment of the next president of the Spanish government.

The Diada was shown like last year the discomfort of a sector of the independence movement Now that ERC is committed to a dialogue with the state, doubts on this occasion also focus on JxCat, which is not yet close to negotiating Pedro Sánchez’s investiture.

The three pro-independence parties with parliamentary representation -ERC, JxCat and the CUP- arrive divided after Junts last October decided to leave the government of Pere Aragonèswho disagreed with his pact strategy in Madrid.

Although relations between the three formations are still marked by tensions, ERC and JxCat now maintain very similar positions regarding the investitureopen to negotiations if their most relevant demands, such as amnesty, are met.

However, the divisive factor comes from the Catalan National Assembly (ANC)the organizing entity of the demonstration that takes place every September 11 since the beginning of the ‘trials’ and which has lost strength in recent years due to the demobilization of independence.

Two demonstrations in the afternoon

As usual, The official events of the Diada start at 9am on Monday in Barcelona with the floral offerings of institutions, parties, unions and entities in front of the monument to Rafael Casanova, starting with the members of the government, headed by the President of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès.

Following the same pattern as always, The ANC has organized a demonstration in central Barcelona at 5:14 p.m.who on this occasion will depart from four different places – Sants Station, the headquarters of the Ministry of Finance, the City of Justice and the Proa School – to converge on Plaza Espanya, where parliaments will be.

On the other hand, at 6pm the usual demonstration of the CUP and other forces of the pro-independence leftwhich will culminate in the Born district.
