The ORF is looking for a new partner for scientific support in the super election year 2024. After ending the collaboration with the SORA Institute, the scientific and analytical election day research will now be publicly tendered, the public media company announced on Thursday. The award process is expected to start in the first quarter of 2024.
The order should include projections, voter flow analyzes and election day surveys for state, national and EU elections. Next year, in addition to the EU elections, there will also be the elections for the National Council and the state elections in Vorarlberg and Styria.
Until a decision on the contractor has been made, awards will be made on a fairly competitive basis.
Weißmann: “Let action follow now”
“After ending our collaboration with SORA, we announced a transparent purchasing process. We are now following up this announcement with action and putting the provision of these highly sensitive services relevant to millions of people in Austria out to public tender,” said Roland Weißmann, Managing Director of ORF in a broadcast.
The goal is to further expand ORF’s leading position in election reporting in terms of trust, precision, quality and timeliness.
The SPÖ strategy document went to the wrong recipients
At the end of September, ORF ended its electoral cooperation with SORA. The reason was an unintentionally made public strategy document from the institute that was to serve as a basis for the SPÖ’s intended advice.
