This Tuesday, the deadline for nominating candidates within the internal election process has passed. A meeting will take place in Bilbao on Saturday, in which Otxandiano will speak for the first time as a candidate for lehendakari.
The program director of EH Bildu, Otxandiano hairis now the only lehendakari candidate for the sovereigntist party in the Basque Parliament elections, after the deadline for presenting candidates passed last Tuesday.
As reported by EH Bildu sources, this Tuesday the phase established within the internal election process to submit candidacies was concluded, without there being any alternative candidates to Otxandiano proposed by the Political Table. Therefore, pending his official proclamation, he is the candidate for the presidency of the Basque government of the sovereigntist party.
An EH Bildu meeting will be held in Bilbao this Saturday, in which Pello Otxandiano will speak for the first time as a candidate for lehendakari.
Otxandiano, 40 years old and from Otxandio (Bizkaia), has an important political background within the sovereigntist formation and has been program director until now. He has a doctorate in telecommunications engineering and is considered one of the ideologues of EH Bildu.
The EH Bildu Political Table introduced him on November 11th candidate for Lehendakaritza for its “solvency, passion and soul”, and considering that it is “a quality investment”. It was the general coordinator of the sovereigntist formation, Arnaldo Otegi, who announced this during a performance, after announcing his decision not to seek the candidacy.
