The President of Seaska considers the decision of the Court of Pau to dismiss the appeal of the Federation of Ikastolas against the French Ministry of Education as a political decision, and not a legal or pedagogical one, for failure to comply with the agreement that states allow exams to be conducted in Basque.
The chairman of Seaska, Peio Jorajuriapointed out that the decision of the Court of Pau to dismiss the appeal that Seaska has filed against the French Ministry of Education for violation of the agreement allowing exams to be held in Basque is political: “It is neither legal nor pedagogical, nor does it have anything to do with the organization of the exams”, he criticized in front of Euskadi Irratia’s microphones.
In an interview held this morning, Jorajuria announced that they will be organized in the coming weeks to give a political answer to this decision.
The pact between the French Ministry of Education, Euskararen Erakunde Publikoa and Seaska itself was concluded in 2019 and the three institutions agreed that students could take some Baxoa exams in Basque.
However, the rector of the Academy of Bordeaux has always refused to apply it, so the Iparralde Federation of Ikastolas decided to go to court.
However, the judge has now rejected Seaska’s appeal claiming it’s not registered properly and therefore did not go into the substance of the case.
The president of Seaska has reminded Euskadi Irratia that in Herri Urrats a call to disobedience Likewise, he has reported that they believe that the students who are going to apply for the patent will do so in Basque, although they know that they will not improve their exams and that they will get very poor grades.
Students from Lapurdi, Zuberoa and Baja Navarra will have to take entrance exams for the University of Baxoa at the end of June and today they still do not know whether they will do it in French and Basque, or only in French.
