Study published – EU elections, Sunday question: which party is ahead?

Date:

A recently published survey shows: ÖVP politician Thomas Stelzer is currently excluded as state governor, but the FPÖ has slightly more support in the European elections. Here you will find a complete overview of the political mood in Upper Austria.

First of all: the client of this study is the Upper Austrian ÖVP. State director Florian Hiegelsberger had 800 voting Upper Austrians interviewed by the M&R Institute in April 2024.

The results in detail:

Improving healthcare Upper Austrians see this as the most important task of politics. Asylum policy and the protection of the environment and climate are also in the foreground. The respondents also put soil consumption and care on the political agenda. Party manager Hiegelsberger says: “People are wondering what will happen next to the prosperity, health, safety and environment in the country.”

The most popular politician in the country is LH Thomas Stelzer. 65% have a good opinion of him, only a fifth of respondents do not have a good opinion. FPÖ boss and LH deputy Manfred Haimbuchner has a popularity of 50%, Stefan Kaineder 44%. MFG frontman Joachim Aigner received an above-average report. 51% do not have a good opinion.

Stelzer has top values, all others are under “Continued”
If the LH were elected directly, Stelzer would get 49%, something other parties can only dream of. Haimbuchner would get 15%, Lindner 8%. Comment from the regional manager: “This proves that Upper Austrians consider Governor Stelzer’s course and attitude correct.”

When asked about the EU elections, the FPÖ comes first
When asked about the EU elections, the survey confirms the striking mood: the FPÖ is the strongest party with 26 percent, followed by the ÖVP and SPÖ (25 percent).

From a national political perspective, the ÖVP remains in first place in the Sunday issue with 34%. The FPÖ is gaining ground, just like the SPÖ. The Blues got 26 percent, the SPÖ 20 percent. By comparison, the Reds got 18.6 percent in the 2021 election, so things are going up slightly.
