The elected deputy of EHBai-FHB, Peio Dufauhas expressed his satisfaction with the “historic victory” achieved yesterday by the left. The candidate of the New Popular Front obtained the most votes in the sixth constituency of the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, ahead of the Macronists of Ensemble and the far right. As he admitted, he has not yet had time to respond to the “thousands of messages” received to congratulate him, including those from the general coordinator of EH Bildu, Arnaldo Otegi, or those from the President of the Commonwealth of Iparralde. In an interview for Euskadi Irratia’s ‘Faktoria’ program, Dufau confessed that he still does not know exactly what the protocol steps for the coming days and months will be, although he is clear about the topics he will take to Paris. Among them, he cited a law by residencea key issue in his constituency (the coast from Lapurdi, to Itsasu inland), the situation of the first sectorand the defense and protection of Basque.
