Alava’s boards approve the 10 million euro project that will supplement their current budget

Date:

The parties of the Foral Government (PNV and PSE) agreed on the project with the PP.

The General Meetings of Alava today, Wednesday, approved the draft regional regulation supplement to this year’s extended budgetsand it is endowed with 9.8 million euros. The parties of the Foral Government (PNV and PSE) have reached an agreement with the PP to be able to carry out these investments.

The deputy of the Ministry of Finance, Itziar Gonzalo, has defended before the plenary these budgetary measures which, in her words, “support strategic and far-reaching projects that will improve Álava’s competitiveness and its quality of life” through investments for this year, and also various commitment appropriations for the coming years.

He emphasized, among other things, the 8 million reserved for the wine campus of the Basque Culinary Center in Vitoria and Laguardiathe 5 million for the advanced automotive production center in Jundiz and 6 million until 2028 to support to Foronda airport.

EH Bildu spokesperson Eva López de Arroyabe criticised the fact that in these negotiations “the provincial government did not give her group any options”, but opted for an “easy partner” like the PP. She was particularly critical of the PSE, which in her opinion “should have tried to make the government move to the left” instead of agreeing to “a right-wing party”.

From Elkarrekin Araba, David Rodríguez has accused the PNV and the PSE of “not wanting to negotiate” because “they have not had the will to do so” and have shown “little receptivity” to their proposals. He also regrets that both parties have chosen to conclude a ‘centre-right pact’ with the PP.

Vox member Jonathan Romero has also criticized the additional measures in the budget, in which he sees “an ideological bias”.

The popular Iñaki Oyarzabal has congratulated himself for having “conditioned” regional regulations by eliminating “non-specific, non-priority or superfluous” matters and introducing proposals to promote access to housing for young people, help families with elderly dependents in their care, facilitate the employment of unemployed people over 45 and help small businesses in cities, among others.

From the regional government groups, nationalist Iñaki Ruiz de Galarreta praised “the ability to reach an agreement between different parties to move forward.”

Socialist Josu López Ubierna has described the fact that the government of Ramiro González agreed on these additional measures instead of continuing to deal with the extensive bills as “an exercise of audacity and political courage”.
