US presidential candidate Donald Trump has cast doubt on his planned televised debate with opponent Kamala Harris on September 10. The Republican accused broadcaster ABC News of bias.
On his online platform Truth Social, he asked the question on Sunday evening (local time): “Why would I debate Kamala Harris on this network?”
Trump called the network “ABC Fake News.” He was angry about the network’s reporting Sunday in which a reporter conducted a “ridiculous and biased interview” with Republican Senator Tom Cotton. He called the political pundits who appeared on the station a “so-called discussion group of Trump haters.”
Has Trump canceled his only duel so far?
Trump did not cancel the date for the televised duel. However, he explained that the broadcaster had “a lot of questions to answer.”
ABC News announced two and a half weeks ago that Trump and Harris would face off on the network on September 10. Both the Republican and Democrat had confirmed their participation by that date, the network announced at the time. It is the only televised debate so far ahead of the November 5 election between the vice president and the former president.
