The Basque government celebrates on Thursday his first government council of the new political course. With the appointment, which will take place as usual in the Miramar Palace of San Sebastián, the PNV-PSE-EE coalition government will resume its activities once the August break is over and after an intense public agenda in July.

As Lehendakaritza sources emerge, Lehendakari Imanol Pradales plans to explain to his advisors the various ‘country pacts’ he wants to reach consensus on in the coming months, including the signing of a code of ethics for the exercise of politics in Euskadi or an agreement for the improvement of Osakidetza.
On the first issue, the Lehendakari has expressed concern over the level of tensions confrontation existing in the Spanish politics and the rise of the far right which according to Pradales “threatens our coexistence and rights.” Given this, and even realizing that the political climate in Euskadi is “relatively healthy,” the Jeltzale leader advocates protecting that cordial atmosphere.
To this end, it will propose minimum rules of the game that set limits to what is ethically possible in political work, always raising the flag of respect for those who differ and their positions.
Pradales, who already outlined his plans in this regard during closed meetings with the groups in July, plans to present the approach to the Basque Parliament.
The other priority, as is already known, is the health pactwhose table will be formed on September 5. It is the date chosen by the Minister of Health, Alberto Martínez, for the first meeting of the agents involved. The Lehendakari itself has already announced that the intention is to reach an agreement within a period of six months.

The formal ceremony begins with the traditional family photo of the new director. It usually takes place on the palace’s outside steps, although Euskadi is under a yellow alert due to heavy rain on Thursday, so the event for the graphic media may take place at the Miramar Palace.
