Despite the election campaign, the confidence of top domestic politicians is surprisingly rising. The ÖVP in particular was able to improve its values, as shown by the current APA/OGM confidence index. The few losers include SPÖ leader Andreas Babler and Environment Minister Leonore Gewessler (Greens).
In the case of Gewessler, the dispute over renaturation is conceivable as a cause; in the case of Babler, differences of opinion within his own party could be the background. Overall, there can be no talk of an increase in confidence among the Greens. For example, there is no change in the Minister of Social Affairs and Health Johannes Rauch and Vice Chancellor Werner Kogler. Only Minister of Justice Alma Zadic made a slight gain.
Totschnig also loses
In the ÖVP, only Agriculture Minister Norbert Totschnig loses slightly. Economics Minister Martin Kocher managed to gain the most trust here, while Finance Minister Magnus Brunner, Chancellor Karl Nehammer, Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg and Constitutional Minister Karoline Edtstadler also gained after his appointment as Austrian EU Commissioner. However, the trust ratings for Nehammer, Schallenberg and Edtstadler are generally poor.
Family Minister Susanne Raab, Interior Minister Gerhard Karner, Education Minister Martin Polaschek, Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner and State Secretary for Youth Claudia Plakolm also reported an increase in trust. Even National Council Chairman Wolfgang Sobotka managed to gain five trust points at the end of his term, but is still at the bottom of the rankings.
Kickl and Meinl-Reisinger win
NEOS boss Beate Meinl-Reisinger and FPÖ boss Herbert Kickl managed to gain confidence in the opposition, but the latter remains in second-to-last place. Doris Bures, the Vienna SPÖ top candidate and chairwoman of the Second National Council, also made gains.
For the trust index, 1,087 representatively selected Austrians aged 16 and over were surveyed online. The maximum fluctuation range is three percentage points.
