Next Sunday, the National Council will be re-elected. Local political experts are analysing the consequences of the outcome for the parties in Burgenland. After all, the state elections will take place there in January 2025. Tension is being created in various ways.
Currently, the parties are again eagerly competing for votes. In the 2019 National Council elections, the result in Burgenland differed slightly from the overall result at the federal level. In detail: The ÖVP was slightly stronger with 38.3% than in the federal government with 37.5%, the SPÖ was significantly higher with 29.4% (21.2%) and the FPÖ was also better with 17.3% (16.2%). The Greens performed much worse than in the federal government – with 8.1% compared to 13.9%. The same applies to the Neos with 4.9% in the country and 8.1% in Austria as a whole.
