VP withdrawal – Linz’s personnel carousel is turning happily

Date:

After the departure of city boss Klaus Luger (SPÖ) in the aftermath of the Brucknerhaus affair, Linz’s personnel carousel continued to turn on Thursday. Karin Hörzing, who initially took over as deputy mayor, handed over the helm to Dietmar Prammer.

Supervisory director positions at municipal companies will also have to be filled soon. ÖVP Deputy Mayor Hajart announced his withdrawal from these committees and the appointment of independents.

Previous city councilor Dietmar Prammer was promoted to first deputy mayor on Thursday and is now in charge of the matter. Hörzing is now only the third – instead of the previous first – deputy mayor, and the previous third deputy mayor Tina Blöchl (all SPÖ) is now only a municipal councilor. Background: Castling: Prammer also wants to participate in the mayoral elections on January 12. To do this, he must undergo an internal party member vote, for which he is the only candidate. Martin Hajart for the ÖVP, Michael Raml for the FPÖ, Eva Schobesberger for the Greens, Georg Redlhammer for the NEOS, Gerlinde Grünn for the KPÖ and Lorenz Potocnik for Linz+ are also standing for election.

Current order required
There are also new appointments at companies in the city of Linz, following Luger’s resignation as mayor. The vacant position of chairman of the supervisory board at Linz AG must be filled on Friday. Karin Hörzing could be elected head of the supervisory board, for how long remains to be seen.

External appointment possible
There is also talk of the post eventually being filled by an external person outside party politics. After Luger’s departure, the ex-rector of JKU Linz Meinhard Lukas was appointed the new chairman of the supervisory board at LIVA. It remains to be seen whether this model can also be the inspiration for other new appointments. A new chairman is also on the agenda at Flughafen Linz GmbH, and the state of Upper Austria with State Councilor Markus Achleitner (VP) also plays a role here.

Withdrawal announced
ÖVP Deputy Mayor Hajart announced his withdrawal from the city’s supervisory boards during the city council meeting on Thursday afternoon: “I will resign from my positions on the supervisory board in the city’s companies and we will appoint people outside the city government .” Vice Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Linz AG, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Linz-Line and member of the Supervisory Board of the airport. Hajart said successors would be nominated at the next meeting.
