Taking into account the bill has only been rejected by Vox. The members of the PSOE, as well as the PP, voted in favor of processing the rule, in the sense set out in the 2022 Democratic Memory Law.
The Congress of Deputies has agreed to consider a bill submitted by the PSOE to dissolve associations advocating Francoism, such as the Francisco Franco Foundation.
The PSOE has received the support of all its members and the PP to implement the reform of the Organic Law regulating the right of association and to include apologies for Francoism as a cause for the dissolution of an association, as enshrined in the Democratic Memory Act of 2022. .
Only the 33 Vox delegates voted against considering this initiative.
The Democratic Memory Law expressly includes the obligation to amend the right of association to dissolve those who glorify the coup and Franco’s dictatorship or who “praise their leaders with contempt and humiliation of the dignity of the victims.”
