The Minister of Finance and Finance of the Basque Government has called on EH Bildu, PP and Sumar to present “concrete, achievable and realistic” proposals.
The Minister of Finance and Finance of the Basque Government, Noel d’Anjouwill open a first round of contacts with EH Bildu, PP and Sumar from next Monday (November 11) “to explore possible alliances” around the budget project. It therefore called on these parties to present proposals “concrete, viable and realistic”. Last Monday, D’Anjou started presenting to the Basque Parliament the draft budget prepared by the Basque government for 2025, in which each minister of the executive will present the accounts of their respective departments.
The counselor has indicated that this budget project “does not start from scratch” as it is “the result of listening work that the government has been carrying out since June” – through its contacts with political parties, trade unions and social agents, provincial councils, Eudel and representatives of the civil society – and the agreement between the two parties that make up the government.
In this sense, Councilor d’Anjou has called on opposition parties to act with a “good vision” and put forward “concrete, feasible and realistic proposals”.
D’Anjou explained that the aim of the Basque government – which, thanks to the absolute majority of the PNV and the PSE-EE, has guaranteed the approval of the bills in parliament – is to ‘broaden’ the support offered by the draft budget . why the country remains ‘open to dialogue, negotiation and agreement’.
The opposition has doubts
The opposition, in turn, has expressed its “doubts” about the forecasts on which the accounts have been drawn up, and has questioned whether the project contributes to addressing the main challenges of the Basque Autonomous Community.
The parliamentary spokesperson for EH BilduPello Otxandiano, has expressed his “doubts” about the collection forecasts for 2025 on which the accounts are drawn up, and has warned that, to guarantee the quality of public services, it would be necessary to “take a look” and do “ a serious reflection” on the budget model.
The parliamentarian of PP Álvaro Gotxi has questioned the economic forecasts on which the budgets have been drawn up, denouncing that this implies that a project has been designed ‘with feet of clay’.
By AddJon Hernández has stated that the government’s “slogans” about the high amount of the budget “contrast” with the fact that growth related to this year’s project has been “less” than that in the 2024 accounts with regard to that of 2023.
