The teams said on Saturday that there were good first talks between party leaders Karl Nehammer (ÖVP), Andreas Babler (SPÖ) and Beate Meinl-Reisinger (NEOS). “We take the assignment seriously and work intensively.”
Before coalition negotiations between the three parties can begin, a number of obstacles must be removed. The exploration teams want to meet again on Monday. However, questions that have remained open so far should be clarified this weekend. A meeting between the party leader and the party leaders cannot be ruled out on Saturday morning.
NEOS days online?
At NEOS, the board must also give the green light for the negotiations. The conference could be held online. Such decisions are not necessary for the ÖVP and SPÖ.
There is no concrete date yet for the third exploration round in the three-person format, but it should take place during the weekend. Observers are currently anticipating a meeting on Monday morning at the Palais Epstein. Ideally, the timetable for further discussions should then be established. It is not yet known who will be involved in the government negotiations.
