Times are changing and there seems to be a slow change in government. Chancellor Nehammer’s resignation has led to a drastic policy change at the ÖVP, the federal government and numerous states. Many users on our forum are looking forward to change, others see the future less rosy.
The ÖVP suffers major losses in its ranks. At least seven politicians (including Nehammer, Polaschek, Schallenberg, etc.) leave their posts or change jobs. The empty seats are partly filled by new faces, old acquaintances and FPÖ politicians such as Herbert Kickl. Some readers are already complaining, while others insist on giving the new government a chance.
“We are miles away from democracy!”
The question is whether the new functions will do their job well and correctly. One can only have confidence. A bigger problem for our users is the lengthy process of government formation. However, some voices are happy that those with the most votes are finally coming to power.
“In reality, it doesn’t matter what the Chancellor’s name is!”
A widespread impression among our users is that they no longer believe that politics represents the interests of citizens. It only seems to be about positions, votes and the image of the parties. The real work is done by the foot soldiers.
What do you think of Chancellor Nehammer’s resignation and the subsequent changes in our government? How do you see Austria’s political future? What do you want from the new government? We look forward to further reports and opinions in the comments below!
