An extremely spicy security breakdown recently undermined Trump’s government. According to his own statements, a journalist ended up in a secret Government Schat group, where, among others, vice -president JD Vance and Minister of Defense Pete Hegseeth had planned military beats against the Jemeni Houthi Milities. The American journalist ends up in a secret government cat
In an article that has now been published alone, “Atlantic” editor Jeffrey Goldberg describes how he became part of the group about the coded Messenger app in mid -March. In his article, Goldberg describes the exchange between those involved – with exact times, original quotations and partially informal tone. Among the group members included Vice -President VANCE, Minister of Defense Hegseeth, Foreign Minister Marco Rubio and other cabinet members and highly opposite government officials. According to the report, both military tactics and political communication around the blow against Houthi were discussed.
In particular explosive: two hours before the start of the attacks on March 15, Goldberg received a message from Hegseeth itself – with detailed information about goals, weapon systems and the time that the operation expires. Shortly thereafter, air stuck against Houthi positions in Yemen. The US had recently rang the militia as a foreign terrorist organization.
First of all, the journalist believed that it was a fake or the attempt by foreign hackers to cut as much information as possible from the editorial team of the “Atlantic” and possibly to expose the actual journalists there.
When bombs fell, the journalist was convinced of authenticity
When the first explosions in Yemen were performed, Goldberg was finally convinced of the authenticity of the signal group. He left her a little later. According to his report there were no questions about his presence.
The spokesperson for the National Security Council, Brian Hughes, tried to re -interpret the breakdown and argued that the incident was “evidence of the intensive and well -considered political coordination between high -lazing government officials”. After the scandal, the experienced journalist himself said that communication between government members was quite common through signal. However, these are more coordinative activities and no secret special activities of the intelligence services or the army.
Have the government members violated the law?
Since Goldberg apparently was invited to the chat group by the national security adviser Mike Waltz, the suspicion is clear that the high -ranking cabinet member has violated laws. “Atlantic” contacted a number of legal experts in this question. According to the information, they said it could have been possible that Hegseeth and the Secret Service Chiefs had not classified the information that had been exchanged as “strictly secret”. Nevertheless, it was a “non-authorized channel”, the opinion of the experts was unanimous, according to the US Magazine.
