The Ukrainian secret service SBU has made details of a so -called attack on President Wolodyymyr Senskyj and called Rzeszow as a planned place of the attack in Poland.
The suspect was a former Polish soldier who had been recruited from the Soviet -Nostalgia by Russian secret services decades ago, said Sbu -Baas Wassyl Maljuk in Kiev.
The man should organize an attack on Senskyj at the airport of the Eastern Pool city – albeit with a drone or with a sniper, Maljuk said. Two former Ukrainian officers are also involved in the plans in the rank of Supreme of Senskyj’s Leibwache. Maljuk had already reported their arrest in May 2024.
Poland raises charges against former soldiers
The case is known in Poland. The former soldier was arrested in April 2024 by the Polish domestic intelligence service in collaboration with the SBU. In May of this year, the Polish public prosecutor made the charge against him for activities for an enemy secret service.
The airport of the eastern Polish city of Rzeszow, which lies more than 70 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, is the starting point for armament deliveries and for visits to politicians opposite Ukraine. The heavily guarded Senskyj usually travels by train of Kiev during his visits abroad and climbs to the Ukrainian government plane in Rzeszow.
Ukraine has been defending itself against a Russian invasion for more than three years.
