The keys to the Australian Grand Prix

Date:

1. The fall of Quartararo.

The pressure was done by Fabio Quartararo. After crashing in Aragon on the first lap, finishing only eighth in Japan and failing to score points in Thailand, he went into the race knowing he not only had to produce a good result but also finish ahead of Bagnaia. The start was not good and on the third lap he made his first mistake going straight into turn #4; five laps later he dropped to #2. His crash completely changed Bagnaia’s race strategy and the championship situation with two races remaining.

2. The speed of the race.

Fear of rear wheel damage made pilots “slow” to ride. This allowed riders like Rins, Marini or Bastianini, coming from behind, to reach the front group, and Márquez to dispute the victory -see key #4-.

3. The tip of the Rins is straight.

Alex and his team studied before the race the corners where he should “save” the rear tire. Turn #1 was not one of them, so Rins squeezed it to the max, which allowed him to reach turn #2, where he was clearly superior to the rest, faster and better placed.

4. The election of Marquez.

Fitting a soft rear tire at the last moment against the team’s opinion was one of the keys to his result. He also had the “collaboration” of a slow race pace, which helped him keep the rubber until the end of the race … “I played it, because I knew that if I went out like everyone else I would . i have no choice”

5. “respect” by Bezzecchi.

As he did in Japan, Marco stopped again when he reached the Bagnaia wheel, which gave a better result. And it is that as he declared last week, “I ran to be one day in the factory team”. It’s clear, right?
