Q1 of qualifying for the British GP went crazy due to changing track conditions. The asphalt started to get wet and dried out due to the lack of water. Throughout the session, several drops fell, but finally, a red flag caused by a problem with Magnussen’s Haas sent all drivers back to the pit lane with 3’11” to go into the session, knowing that no that it will rain and the previously set times will be crushed when they return to the tarmac. Everyone is playing a single card. Everyone has to set at least one good time. Because of this, everyone wants to get out of the pit lane onto the tarmac and in The street of the garages gave rise to a huge queue of cars, where Verstappen had to put himself at the end because of a mistake that the two-time world champion does not usually make.

The Dutchman came out of the pits skidding a tire and, in a very narrow pit lane, his front wing crashed into the wall. He broke the left side of that wing and had to be pushed back into his box to get that wing replaced. He was left at the back of the pack, with barely any time to wait for everyone to clear in front of him, make room for a turn and cross the finish line in time to do a fast lap.
Finally, Verstappen passed too much. At the horn, the two-time F1 champion, with a quick preparation, crossed the finish line and then completed a turn that allowed him to enter Q2 and not be eliminated for the first time.
