Starting this Friday, the Servei Català de Transit (SCT) will implement a special operation for the celebration of the Montmeló Motorcycle Grand Prix (Barcelona), coinciding with the usual weekend exits and, above all, with the return of summer holidays next. Sunday.
SCT predicts a complex mobility this weekend as this sporting event adds the departure of around 425,000 vehicles between tomorrow afternoon and Saturday morning, and the return on holiday Sunday of 255,000 car
This time between the Motorcycle Grand Prix, which will mobilize more than 60,000 spectators, and the return of holidays may especially affect AP-7, C-33 and C-17, especially on Sundays between 12:00 and 24:00 hours.
To increase road capacity and improve fluidity, the SCT will implement special measures such as an additional lane on the AP-7, in the northern section between Sant Celoni and Montornès del Vallès, and also in the south, between Vilafranca del Penedès and Molins de Rei, as well as on the C-33, between Sant Andreu de Llavaneres and Montgat.
On sections of these two roads, trucks will also be prohibited from overtaking and must travel at a maximum speed of 80km/h.
Traffic will also adopt special management and regulation measures on other highways such as the C-65 and GI-662 in Costa Brava, N-II in Tordera, N-340 in El Vendrell and the C-14/ N-240 in Montblanc.
In addition, SCT recommends using the C-32 north highway as an alternative to possible bottlenecks that may occur on AP-7.
Some thirty Mossos d’Esquadra agents will participate in this special device tomorrow, Friday, and about sixty on both Saturday and Sunday.
The deputy director of the SCT, Lourdes Puigbarraca, the head of the Regional Traffic Area of the Northern Metropolitan Police Region, inspector Pedro Castrejón, and the director of the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, Josep Lluís Santamaria, presented this Thursday the special device for the weekend this, which will start to apply this Friday at 3:00 pm
