The Castellón pilot Joan Barreda this Friday fell on Dakar prologue when he skidded while riding a ‘waypoint’ – a waypoint to guide the drivers – and lost “important seconds” in the general classification, but he made sure that this Saturday he had a long stage ahead of him and he was just thinking about it .
“It was a short but difficult phase, there were some complicated situations. At a ‘waypoint’, we had to turn back and had a skidding falltrying to reach the ‘waypoint'”, explained the man from Castellón, who finished fifteenth in the prologue of the race.
However, he commented that this Saturday’s stage, which runs from Al Ula to Al Henakiyah for 532 kilometers, is a long stage and he is only thinking about the preparation “for the physical aspect” of it.
Barreda was the third Spaniard, following Tosha Schareina, who won the prologue and Lorenzo Santolino, who finished twelfth, one minute and sixteen behind the Valencian driver.
