The Catalan David Puig is in PGA Championship after receiving an invitation from PGA of Americaaccording to the specialized portal ‘tengolf.es’.
So there will be three Spaniards in the second ‘major’ of the season which takes place next week. Puig, who won the Malaysian Open in February, joined Jon Rahmclassified as the Augusta Masters champion in 2023, and Adrian Otaeguiwho broke through after winning the Asian Swing after winning the DP World Tour’s Volvo China Open.
This Monday, Puig is in 106th place in the world ranking. Each year the top 100 of this classification are ranked for the PGA and, in addition, some outside of that top 100 are added at the discretion of the North American golf professional institution.
Puig will play the second ‘Big’ of his career after the US Open in 2023. And his presence at the British Open at Royal Troon in July is guaranteed, a place he certainly earned by winning the Asian Tour’s Malaysia Open.
