Claudio Giraldez, coach of RC Celta, is convinced that UD Las Palmas will overcome the bad moment it is going through – it is the only team from LaLiga who has never won and 22 days without winning – because he has “talent” to not fight to avoid relegation.
“I have no doubt that he will come out there, because he has talent. Last year, down to the last ten games, they were fighting for Europe. “That speaks of a way of playing, a style and players of a very high level,” he said at a press conference.
For the Galician coach, it is “not fair” that the negative statistics of their next rival will be analyzed by counting the games from last year – they haven’t won since February – because “every season it is a world and they also changed coaches and some players.”
“I think it has one too complex calendar. This season, at home, they have lost only one game out of the four they have played, with hyper-complex matches against Real Madrid, Betis, Sevilla, Athletic. Out of those four, they only lost to Athletic,” he recalled.
Giráldez praised the team led by Luis Carrión: “It is in that process of constructionfrom the knowledge of the coach to the players. For me they do a lot of things well, they have offensive talent and a way of playing that is very difficult to defend and adjust to.”
The Celta coach does not believe that his team has a extra pressure for facing a rival who does not know victory after eight days: “I would find that pressure complicated if it was the penultimate or the last day and they were relegated and you were risking your life. We have a lot at stake here.”
