France “guarantees” security in its fight against Israel

Date:

He Prefect of the Paris Police, Laurent Núñezassured on Thursday that the security conditions for the match between France and Israel, which will take place tonight (9 pm) in Paris and which is considered “high risk”, are “guaranteed”.

In an interview with France’s Info station, Núñez promises “stability” with those wishing to cause incidents and recalled that the device included the mobilization of 4,000 police and gendarmes around the France Stadium, in the city of Saint Denis, inside the stadium, on public transport lines and in possible gathering places in Paris.

The police will arrive inside the Stade de France to reinforce the 1,600 security agents hired by the French Football Federation (FFF), a number higher than usual and who, in addition to controlling the entrances, will monitor that there are no Palestinians flag or display banners with political messages.

French authorities are trying to avoid scenes of violence last week in Amsterdam on the occasion of a football match between Ajax and Maccabi in Tel Aviv, resulting in over 60 detaineesconsidering that France has the largest Jewish and Muslim communities in Europe.

A rally in support of the Palestinians, supported by France Insoumise (LFI), the main left-wing party, was planned and authorized this afternoon in Saint Denis.

The Police Prefect confirmed that “they have the right to demonstrate” but he pointed out that he is negotiating with the organizers on the place where the concentration will take place, which will not give authorization where they first intended, in front of Town of Saint Denis.

The reason for this refusal is that the Saint Denis Town Hall is relatively close to the Stade de France and there are also metro and commuter lines there that will be used by fans going to the football match.

The French president decided to attend the France-Israel meeting, Emmanuel Macronas well as his two predecessors, the socialist François Hollande (2012-2017) and the conservative, Nicolas Sarkozy (2007-2012), and the current prime minister, Michel Barnier.
