The FIFA launching a fund of 50 million dollars (47 million euros) created with Qatar on the occasion of the last World Cup in 2022 and will be allocated to a series of social programs led by the World Health Organization (WHO), the World Trade Organization (WTO) and UNHCR, the UN Agency for Refugees.
The purpose of this fund and multi-stakeholder partnership is to help FIFA deliver results beyond the field of play and international organizations to drive a positive impact on society and development around the world.
This fund aims to invest in projects that have a social impact in different regions and is based on four pillars. On the one hand, refugees and where through UNHCR, will support programs that empower communities and promote stability and independence of some of the most vulnerable people in the world with the aim of improving access in basic services, improving social inclusion and strengthening national systems.
On the other hand, it is intended for the health and safety of the public at work. In this case, it seeks improvement in working conditions. FIFA will join forces with WHO to support Beat the Heat, a flagship initiative to organize actions to protect the health and safety of people at high risk from extreme heat and related occupational hazards and effects and environment in the context of climate change.
The third pillar rests on education. In this case, together with the WTO and the International Trade Center, FIFA will support the Women Exporters in the Digital Economy Fund, whose objective is to empower women entrepreneurs by exploiting the potential of digitalization to help them access supplies value chain.
The final leg is devoted to football development, in this case through the Aspire Academy and the FIFA Talent Development Programme. The aim is to cooperate in identifying promising young people in remote areas of a certain number of developing countries, with the aim of giving more talents from around the world the chance to shine.
