Alcaraz, almost infallible in five set battles

At his premiere at Wimbledon in 2021 he did something similar then against the Japanese Yasutaka Uchiyama, whom he defeated 6-3, 6-7 (4), 6-2, 3-6 and 6-3.

At the United States Open that same year, he surpassed the third and fourth rounds in matches that were also pushed to the limit against Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas (6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (2), 0-6 and 7 -6 (5)) and against German Peter Gojowczyk (5-7, 6-1, 5-7, 6-2 and 6-0).

The player from El Palmar’s only defeat in five sets came in the third round of the Australian Open, last January, when he fell against Italian Matteo Berrettini 2-6, 6-7 (3), 6-4, 6-2 and 6-7 (5).

He later beat Albert Ramos in all five races needed in the second round of Roland Garros (6-1, 6-7 (7), 5-7, 7-6 (2) and 6-4) in another match where he had to return.

Alcaraz, who in 2022 has a record of 33 wins and 4 losses and has won Masters 1,000 titles in Miami and Madrid and the ATP 500 in Rio de Janeiro and Barcelona, he won 15 of the 21 fights he played in the Grand Slam final draws and in his six appearances in top -category tournaments he has passed at least one round, a streak that remains open after his victory over Struff.
