In detail: the new Alfa Romeo Giulia has evolved in terms of style and technology, while keeping the brand’s DNA intact

The new Alfa Romeo Giulia arrives, a widely awarded model that has conquered the international community thanks to the usual hallmarks of excellence in the brand (perfect weight distribution, best dynamics in its segment, advanced technological and engine solutions) and a timeless design that makes every Alfa Romeo a timeless ‘work of art’. Alfa Romeo’s signature interpretation of Italian beauty and design has become even more seductive and contemporary in this model, with a touch of style at the front that bears the Tonale’s family resemblance. The new Giulia will go on sale in February 2023.

At the front of the new Giulia stand out the grille, where the logo is located, and the grilles covering the two main air intakes, designed with a unique finish that offers a contemporary reinterpretation of the famous and distinctive grille. But the main novelty of the nose is its optics. As of today, the ‘3+3’ lamps with new Full LED adaptive matrix headlamps will be released on both models. This creates strong family ties to the Tonale, while evoking a well-known brand feature introduced with the iconic Alfa Romeo SZ Zagato and the Alfa Romeo Proteo concept.

It incorporates the latest technology to ensure a comfortable and connected experience, while providing the unique driving pleasure of an Alfa Romeo. The main change can be seen in the instrument panel with its classic ‘binocular’ design. It includes the new 12.3″ (31 cm) TFT screen, fully digital, from which you can access all vehicle information and parameters related to the autonomous driving systems. In addition, the frame offers three possible configurations: Evolved, Relax and Heritage Representing the future of Alfa Romeo design, Evolved uses the central portion of the screen, while retaining the two side quadrants. Relax focuses on comfort, lacks detailed vehicle information and omits both quadrants. Heritage is inspired by the legendary models of the brand from the 1960s and 1970s and includes distinctive details such as the inverted numbers at the end of the speedometer.

It features a smooth and easy-to-use human-machine interface (HMI) to put all functions at your fingertips. In addition, the infotainment system guarantees a wide range of content and functions, along with all the benefits of the ‘Alfa Connect Services’, which offers a range of safety and comfort services designed to offer OTA (Over the Air) updates.

The new Giulia now has the NFT (Non-Fungible-Token) digital certificate, an exclusive technology in the automotive world that the Italian brand first introduced in the Tonale and is now available throughout its range. The technology is based on the concept of a ‘blockchain card’, an encrypted and immutable digital document that stores the essential information of each car. It is a unique, user-friendly and durable feature that further accentuates Alfa Romeo’s innovative character. Depending on the choice made by the customer, the NFT generates a certificate in which the history of the vehicle is recorded. This certificate can be used to guarantee the correct maintenance of the vehicle and thus to verify its residual value. The NFT certificate provides another source of credibility that helps the owner/buyer, but also reassures the buyer of the used vehicle.

It offers an emotional driving experience in the true Alfa Romeo spirit, which represents the perfect balance between Italian design, state-of-the-art engines, impeccable weight distribution, unique technological solutions and an excellent power-to-weight ratio. The essence of Alfa Romeo’s current and past models stems from this ‘magic’ formula which, from the Tonale (symbol of the brand’s metamorphosis), has evolved to redefine the 21st century sports car with the hallmark of durability. To achieve a new level of sports performance with efficiency and high performance, the Italian brand relies on its recognized excellence. Just sitting in the new Giulia makes you feel like you’re about to enter the future of the automotive industry.

The impeccably dynamic and sporty behavior of the Giulia is supported by the abundant use of ultra-light materials, such as aluminum (in the base of the engines) and carbon (in the drive shaft), coming straight from the racing world.

It includes four-wheel drive with Q4 technology, designed to reactively and predictively control the vehicle’s traction to ensure the highest levels of performance, efficiency and safety. The Q4 technology offers all the benefits of four-wheel drive, while reducing fuel consumption, improving responsiveness and ensuring the driving pleasure of a rear-wheel drive vehicle. The heart of the Q4 system is the Active Transfer Case (ATC), which monitors grip conditions and driver input in real time to ensure the best performance.

With Alfa Romeo’s Q4 system, the car can drive like a rear-wheel drive car and if the tire grip approaches the traction limit or if the driver’s actions require it, it can immediately transfer up to 50% of the engine torque to the front. in less than 150ms to prevent wheel spin and ensure maximum vehicle performance and control.

The exceptional dynamics of the Giulia are further enhanced by the extraordinary precision of the steering wheel, which is combined with a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission with aluminum paddle shifters to ensure unparalleled cornering handling. Last but not least, to achieve the perfect balance between the feeling of fun and safety behind the wheel, the new model offers a complete set of ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) functions that enable Level 2 Autonomous Driving.

This means that under certain conditions the driver can have the vehicle control the accelerator, brake and steering via electronic systems that require constant supervision. These systems provide assistance and more comfort on long journeys. In any case, the driver must maintain constant control of the vehicle and hands on the wheel.

The new Giulia has also undergone significant engine changes: now the 160 hp rear-wheel drive diesel version is available on all models in the range. Finally, the powerful 280 hp petrol and 210 hp diesel engines with four-wheel drive are also available.
