Repsol’s post on what will soon happen to the price of diesel

Date:

The actual
energy crisis hangs over the consumers who are increasingly seeing how the prices of electricity and
fuels rising to levels not seen before. that of the
fuels in one of those that concerns citizens most, especially those that have diesel vehicles
and that they see their costs continue with the upward trend.

According to the Petroleum Bulletin of the European Union, there is currently a liter of diesel nearby
12% more expensive This difference between the two fuels is in stark contrast to the price a year ago, when gasoline was more expensive than diesel.

However, it appears that car owners using this type of fuel will not see this difference diminish, at least not in the short term. It is expected that the
diesel price not only remain in the coming months, but continue to increase in the future. This is also confirmed by one of the main petrochemical companies,
Repsolwhich has launched a warning to those who have a vehicle of this type.

As explained
Joshua Jon ImazCEO of Repsol, the
diesel trend up could continue in the coming months because of the war in Ukraine: “If, unfortunately, in social, economic and political terms, the current geopolitical tensions in Europe continue, it seems to me that these very open diesel cracks will continue » .

With the coming of winter, when this fuel tends to become more expensive, and the restrictions on
Russian diesel import, could actually make this situation worse. The high natural gas prices in Europe are also not conducive to this lack of price control, as many companies are starting to use diesel as a replacement for gas for thermal applications or to produce energy.

“It seems to me that there is room to see
higher diesel prices in the coming months due to the lack of a political agreement on the invasion of Ukraine and the Russian conflict, agreements that are not expected in the short term,” the Repsol executive reiterated, predicting a price increase in the light of the coming weeks.

The lack of supplies of Russian diesel and the energy crisis caused by the war in Ukraine have led to an increase in fuel costs. This rise has meant that petrol and diesel have reached historic prices, despite relentless attempts to lower them.

The last October price for fuels was 1.76 euros per liter in the case of petrol 95, while for diesel it rose to
€1.97. For example, the gap between the costs of both fuels has widened, now with diesel
up to 20 cents per liter more expensive than gasoline.
