Creating an industrial ecosystem focused on the production of electric and connected vehicles, bringing together 31 initiatives around decarbonisation, connectivity and mobility as a service, are the objectives envisaged in Renault’s proposal for PERTE VEC. Up to 50 companies have joined Renault to launch the program considering the creation of an industrial ecosystem for the production of electric vehicles, as well as other initiatives centered on decarbonisation and improving connectivity and mobility in the sector.

The project has been proposed by Renault Spain in the context of the call for the Strategic Project for Economic Recovery and Transformation (Perte) for the electric and connected vehicle. Once the request is approved by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism, it will be launched, with a target to expire in June 2025.

From Renault, they emphasized that its implementation will enable the integral transformation of the value chain as it brings together a group of companies spanning the entire industrial ecosystem, from technology companies to vehicle or battery manufacturers.

Most of these companies (70%) are small and medium-sized companies and their activities take place in ten autonomous communities (Castilla y León, Basque Country, Madrid, Andalusia, Galicia, Valencia, Castilla-La Mancha, Catalonia and Aragón).

“This project will make Spain a leader in sustainable and connected mobility,” they said of Renault. “This is a very complete project, as it brings together all the knowledge for the production of electric and connected vehicles in a sustainable and cyber-secure way,” said the President and General Manager of Renault Spain, José Vicente de los Mozos.

The 31 initiatives that make up the project are structured around three axes: decarbonisation, connectivity and mobility as a service.

In the field of decarbonisation, initiatives include hydrogen or CO2-neutral fuels. With regard to connectivity, various initiatives related to digitization, cybersecurity or the development of electronic vehicle platforms will be addressed. On the axis of mobility as a service, new technologies will be developed to provide vehicles with innovative functionalities.

The deadline for submitting applications for the vehicle part has recently been extended to June 3rd.
