In the Lower Austrian district of Baden, the fire brigade had to divert to a forest fire on Tuesday afternoon. The removal process turned out to be a long one.
The extinguishing process in Furth an der Triesting took several hours, according to the district fire command. The fire in the alpine terrain quickly spread to an area of about one hectare.
Fire in the black pine forest
The fire started on a ridge, the district command said. A black pine forest near the so-called stone wall was affected. While two civilians first tried to put out the fire, it soon became clear that more help was needed. In order to eventually extinguish the fire, a shuttle service of several tank fire trucks was deployed.
