The construction of the container school is in full swing. After the fire in the trade academy (HAK 1) in the city of Salzburg on 11 July, a total of 510 students will be taught in containers from the autumn.
On the very first day of vacation, the HAK 1 was on fire, the “Krone” reported. Now, after six weeks, a two-storey container school is being built on the HAK 1 sports field. 510 students and 55 teachers should be able to move into the 166 containers from the autumn. The new semester starts on September 19 with just a week of delay in school activities.
In order to be able to run the school from the autumn, a special permit had to be granted for the containers. The city carried out a repurposing of land on the sports field.
Fire investigation not yet completed
After an initial investigation, it was clear that the school could be renovated. However, because the fire investigation has not yet been completed, the renovation cannot start until the autumn of 2023.
