A 91-year-old man was attacked twice within three weeks by the same robber in Vienna-Wieden. The suspect allegedly attacked the pensioner from behind after taking money from the ATM and robbing him.
During the second attack on July 27, a resident heard calls for help from the injured 91-year-old. She took pictures of the suspect from her apartment window and then ran to the man’s aid. Through these photos and traces on the victim’s clothing, the investigators were able to identify and ultimately arrest the suspect.
The Slovak was arrested on August 14 during a focus action on the Keplerplatz in Vienna, the police reported on Monday. Due to the overwhelming evidence, the 31-year-old confessed to both facts. The loot was in the lower three-digit euro range.
