It could have been worse: an S-Bahn collided with a truck in Voitsberg (Styria) on Wednesday morning. His driver may have missed the red light. The damage is considerable, but there are no injuries.
The 48-year-old truck driver from southeastern Styria crossed a railway crossing in Voitsberger Kowaldstrasse shortly after 9:00 am. Police say he may have missed the red light.
The driver of the GKB S-Bahn towards Graz applied emergency braking, but was unable to avoid the collision with the truck. The trailer of the truck was thrown against the traffic light at the railway crossing and a waiting car was also damaged by flying parts.
Passengers escaped in horror
Fortunately no one injured! According to the fire service, there were about 40 passengers on the train, all of whom got away with the horror. The police, the Red Cross and the Voitsberg fire brigade (with 15 people) were deployed after the accident.
