“Unwell”, then dead – German hiker died on the tour to the Scheffauer

Date:

A trip up the Scheffauer in the Kaiser Mountains ended Thursday with the death of a German climber. However, according to the emergency services, the cause was not an accident, but rather an acute health problem.

According to the mountain rescue service, the German wanted to climb the Scheffauer with a colleague from the Steinbergalm via the Widauersteig. When he began to feel unwell, he left the climb. However, his condition deteriorated so much that an emergency call was made.

Due to a vital threat, the control center alerted the C4 helicopter to emergency care and called Kufstein’s mountain rescue service to assist it.

Paramedic cordoned off with rope
However, the emergency doctor who had roped off the patient and the rescuer were no longer able to help the man. As a result, the dead man was rescued with a rope by the helicopter crew. The Kufstein Mountain Rescue Service was on site to provide support and later brought the companion and equipment down into the valley. In addition to the C4, the Alpine Police and five members of the Kufstein Mountain Rescue Service were present.
