Bizarre: He informed the police about “hearsay” – and promptly ended up as a defendant in the Vienna court. The man thought he knew there was a bomb on the Westbahnhof in Vienna.
“Hi! I am a concerned citizen and have heard that a bomb has been dropped on the Westbahnhof.” This was the appeal to the local police station in Vienna that the bomb was “extremely dangerous”.
Eviction for false alarm
The Westbahnhof was evicted on January 5, 2022, there were train delays, including in the metro. No bomb was found. In this regard, the trial of a native Kazakh with a German passport, who was the caller, was exciting. Only – was it a stupid joke? A violation of the emergency signal law? Did the caller even feel threatened?
Instruction despite acquittal
Judge Christoph Bauer clarified the proceedings in the Vienna regional court: The 53-year-old had heard this from drug dealers at Westbahnhof, who were angry about the “constant police checks” and actually wanted to “drop a bomb”. The threat was “very strong” for him.
So acquittal in this case. The man is being placed in an institution anyway because he has schizophrenic seizures – and in one of them he broke the nose of a sleeping homeless man.
