German Chancellor, Olaf Scholz, assured this Sunday that: Russia is not a “reliable energy supplier” after the government agreed on a new aid package of more than 65 billion euros to alleviate the energy crisis.

In this regard, the German Chancellor has emphasized that: Putin’s Russia does not honor contract deliver for a long time. “The trigger for this very difficult situation is the Russian invasion of Ukraine,” he said, adding that they will get through the winter despite everything.

For his part, the finance minister and leader of the liberals, Christian Lindner, has assured that this third package, which includes €65 billion doubles the volume of 30,000 million the previous two combined, it will be financed without the need for new debt.

Measures

a) Yes, pensioners will receive a one-off social assistance benefit on 1 December for the energy price of 300 euros, which will be 200 euros in the case of university students. There will also be a reduced rate for a certain basic electricity consumption. In case of additional consumption above that value, the price is not limited. The cabinet also plans to introduce a new reduced subscription for regional transport across the country.

The German government assured on Friday that gas supplies are fully guaranteed, despite a “tense” context adding a new chapter with the announcement of the indefinite shutdown of the Nord Stream 1 gas pipeline.

The Gas reserves in Germany are about 85% of full capacity. The German government had by decree stipulated that this percentage must be reached at least until 1 October, so that the target was reached one month in advance. However, the levels may go down again.

QatarEnergy

For his part, the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, will hold talks with the Qatar’s largest gas producer on the energy crisis in Europe during a visit to Doha this week, according to a Qatari government official.

QatarEnergy, state-owned company, one of the major exporters of natural gas in the world, has been negotiating with several European buyers for months, but no new deals have been announced.
