By province, sales decreased more sharply in Álava by 6.4%, while in Gipuzkoa they fell by 5.1% and in Bizkaia by 4.8%.
According to Eustat data, sales in major stores and food chains in the Basque Country fell by 5.2% in July compared to the same month last year. The annual evolution of sales is in food (-6.8%) as well as in other products (-2.2%).
Through territoriesthese sales fell to a greater extent in Álava fell by 6.4%, while in Gipuzkoa they fell by 5.1% and in Bizkaia by 4.8%.
Compared to the previous month, namely June 2022, the evolution was also negative, albeit to a lesser extent (-1.5%). In the food sector, turnover fell by 1.2% and in the rest of the products by 2%.
Another data provided by Eustat corresponds to the data collected in the first seven months of the year, when sales in major shopping centers and food chains fell by 1.7% compared to the same period in 2021.
In that period, food turnover fell by 5.7% and sales of other products by 7.1%. Between January and July, sales fell by 0.2% in Bizkaia, 3.3% in Álava and 3.5% in Gipuzkoa.
