After the Puch volunteer fire department rescued a cat from a 15-meter-high tree on Saturday, terrifying details are now known: the one-year-old cat “Fred” was hit by a shotgun.
The stuffed animal had to be treated by a vet after it was rescued from a tree. The vet discovered that there was a bullet in the ear and one in the leg. According to Ursula Lochmann of animal shelter Hallein, these have been in “Fred”‘s body for a long time. “These are old wounds,” Lochmann says.
Despite the injury, the cat is doing well. “He’s here with us now among his own kind,” she says. However, you are not allowed to remove the balls. “They are already encapsulated, ie ingrown. Because they are lead bullets, you can make your situation worse during surgery,” says Lochmann.
