54-year-old Ismail Ünal (54) from Stronsdorf in the Lower Austrian district of Mistelbach is now left empty-handed due to illness in the adjustment of the cost of living. According to the ministry, there are always problems when it comes to deadlines.
In addition to emergency aid, an additional 300 euros in living costs will be added. In theory, because in practice things look different due to tight deadlines, as Ismail Ünal (54) from Stronsdorf in the Mistelbach district experienced firsthand. Because the money is only there if you had unemployment or unemployment benefits for at least 31 days in May and June.
Three and a half weeks on sick leave
In the months before that, Ünal would qualify, but not in the period in question. Ünal was on sick leave for three and a half weeks, too short to receive the 300 euros. However, because he could only receive emergency aid again from June 15 due to an important appointment abroad, he does not have the necessary 31 days here either. “You can’t choose when you get sick,” says his wife Eva Strutzenberger, annoyed at the “bizarre and unfair circumstances”.
“There are always hardships”
The Ministry of Labor points out that it was necessary to set clear conditions. “We are sorry that there is no claim for payment here. But unfortunately there are always hardships when it comes to deadlines,” it reads.
