Red light overlooked – car crashes into passenger train: driver (56) dead

Terrible accident Friday morning in Seiersberg-Pirka (Graz region): A car collided with a train, the motorist (56) was killed instantly.

Another fatal accident occurred on an unrestricted level crossing, this time in Seiersberg-Pirka south of Graz. At around 11.20 am, a 56-year-old driver drove to the level crossing on Premstättner Straße despite the red light. At that moment a GKB passenger train was coming from Graz in the direction of Köflach, the driver (53) was no longer able to avoid the collision.

The Red Cross in the vicinity of Graz, the ambulance helicopter C12, the police and the volunteer fire brigade of Seiersberg and Pirka-Windorf were deployed. The emergency doctor could only determine the man’s death. Passengers on the train were not injured.
